Punjab CM reconstitutes committee on IIOJK

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has reconstituted a special committee on Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Punjab Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basharat Raja has been appointed as convener of the committee, while MPAs – Abdullah Warraich, Nadeem Qureshi, Mahendr Pal Singh, Neelam Hayat Malik and the chief secretary will be its members, said a notification issued here on Saturday. One member from PML-Q and two opposition members will also be nominated as members of the committee.

As per the notification, the Punjab Information Secretary has been appointed as the secretary and member of the committee. The committee would monitor human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in IIOJK.

The notification says that the efforts of the government of Pakistan to achieve the right of self-determination of Kashmiris will be strengthened and supported.
