17 children injured as swing boat collapses in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: 17 children were injured when a swing boat collapsed in the former tribal district of North Waziristan on Eid ul-Fitr, rescue sources said.

A local company installed the swing in a village in the district during the festival, and many kids and adults thronged the site to take a ride, the sources said.

The swing collapsed apparently due to overloading and poor installation, said the sources.

Rescue teams rushed to the site to shift the injured kids to a nearby hospital where all of them were in stable condition.

The people protested against the swing owners after the accident. They appealed to the district administration to cancel their decision to install swings in the district in the future.
