Govt directs all TV channels to show map of Pakistan before 9pm bulletin

As per a notification issued by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), the government has directed all TV channels to show daily the Pakistan map before airing the 9pm news bulletin.

“All the news channels (both public and private) have to flash the political map of Pakistan for 02 seconds before airing the news bulletin at 09:00 pm on regular basis,” read Pemra’s letter, titled ‘Streamlining Correct Use of Pakistan Political Map‘.

It is pertinent to note that earlier in August, PM Imran Khan had announced the approval of a new political map of Pakistan, which included Indian-occupied Kashmir in its entirety.

The approval was given in a Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Imran earlier during which the participants were apprised of the latest situation in the occupied Muslim-majority region.

The premier while speaking during a live televised address to the nation stated that “Today is the most important day in the history that we are presenting a new political map of Pakistan before the world.”

“The cabinet has approved the map,” he said, adding that the Kashmiri and national leadership had also green-signalled it. The new map would now be used in school and colleges as well, he concluded.
