India used Afghanistan soil to perpetrate terrorism inside Pakistan: NSA

ISLAMABAD: The national security advisor said India orchestrated a global propaganda drive to target Islamabad at international forums and used Afghanistan to perpetrate terrorism inside Pakistan.

In an article published in The Independent, Moeed Yusuf wrote Pakistan has always advocated dialogue and political settlement to end the war against terrorism in Afghanistan since Islamabad was most affected by the conflict next door.

He also raised the question of whether the world would repeat the mistake of abandoning Kabul and the region as it did at the end of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1989.

“We lost over 80,000 innocent lives and bore the burden of over $150 billion [in] economic losses,” he said.

It was the collective responsibility of the international community to avoid creating a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, Yusuf said.

The Taliban have signalled agreement to work with the international community [and this is] where the international community should coordinate its efforts, he added.

The world should also move forward with consensus with the neighbours and regional players, he argued.
