Nawaz mum on Israel attacks to protect foreign assets: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry Sunday claimed deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif refrained from calling out Israel for its attacks on unarmed people of Palestine to protect his dirty money stashed abroad.

“The reason for this silence is his [Sharif’s] assets worth billions of rupees abroad,” he said in a tweet.

Fawad said that the PML-N supreme leader expresses his views on everything under the sun and never misses out on any opportunity to slander the government.

But on Israel’s aggression, oppression, violence, and tyrannical attitude towards [people of] Palestine, the minister said, neither Sharif nor his daughter [Maryam Nawaz] and son-in-law [Safdar Awan] issued any statement [condemning it].

However, it emerged that Fawad was mistaken as Nawaz Sharif had indeed commented on the matter. On Twitter, the former premier said earlier: “It is time the world must rise to the occasion, make Israel to cease cruelty being perpetrated against innocent Palestinians & ensure an immediate sustainable solution.”

The information minister’s misstep was pointed out by netizens.

 COVID-19 VACCINATION CENTRE AT NPC:

In a separate tweet, he announced to set up a Covid-19 vaccination centre at the National Press Club in Islamabad to inoculate the journalists.

He confirmed Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar had issued administrative orders for the establishment of a vaccination centre at the press club at the request of his ministry.

“Journalists are the front-line workers in this crisis,” Fawad said and added such measures were necessary to taking care of journalists’ health.

Fawad said that such a facility would also be provided for the law chambers soon.
