'AI Wala Jin': Fans rename Ainak Wala Jin after trailer sparks backlash

For many Pakistanis, Ainak Wala Jin wasn't just another TV show.

It was a childhood memory.

So when the iconic franchise returned as Pakistan's first fully AI-generated commercial film, fans were excited to see one of the country's most beloved classics make a comeback on the big screen.

Soon after the trailer dropped, social media was flooded with criticism, with many viewers claiming the visuals looked rushed, unfinished and noticeably AI-generated.

The biggest talking point came when eagle-eyed fans spotted what appeared to be a Google Gemini watermark in one scene of the trailer, sending the internet into full detective mode.

But it wasn't the use of AI that upset most people. It was the quality.

Many viewers argued the visuals looked "ganda AI" rather than polished enough for a theatrical release.

Within hours, the comments section had turned into a meme festival. "AI hai bhai," one user wrote.

Another joked, "AI wala Jin." One fan hilariously renamed the character "(AI)nak Wala Jin."

"They should've at least used the Pro version," another quipped. "They seriously saw this and thought, 'Haan ye paise banaegi,'" another user commented.

One viewer summed up the mood by writing, "Humare cinemas me AI movies lag rahi hain, kitna gir gaya hai humara standard."

Beyond the jokes, many fans said they were disappointed to see such an iconic childhood classic return with visuals they felt didn't match its legacy.

Others argued that if Pakistan is embracing AI filmmaking, audiences expect something that looks cinematic—not something they believe resembles a free AI experiment.
