ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis are expected to enjoy a three-day weekend in August as the Independence Day public holiday falls adjacent to the weekly weekend.
August 14, which marks Pakistan’s Independence Day, will be observed as a public holiday across the country. Depending on the applicable weekend schedule in their province or organisation, many employees and students will benefit from three consecutive days off.
The extended break is expected to encourage domestic travel, family gatherings and Independence Day celebrations, with tourist destinations likely to see an increase in visitors.
Government offices, educational institutions and many private businesses are expected to remain closed on the public holiday, while banks and other organisations will follow the schedule announced by the relevant authorities.
Provincial governments and individual institutions may issue separate notifications regarding holiday arrangements, depending on their official working week and administrative requirements.
