PM says Iran’s missile programme was not included in Islamabad MoU

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Iran’s ballistic missile programme was not part of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding agreed between Tehran and Washington, stating the matter was never included in those discussions.
Speaking during a delegation-level meeting alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the prime minister said the agreement to end the Middle East war did not cover the missile issue. He clarified that there was no reference to ballistic missiles in the understanding reached between Iran and the United States.
Shehbaz also said there should be no double standards on ballistic missiles, adding that Iran had the same right to possess them as other countries.
The remarks came during President Pezeshkian’s engagements in Islamabad. The prime minister made the comments while speaking in the presence of the visiting Iranian president. More details were not immediately available as the story was still being updated.
