Dar discusses regional situation with Turkish and Egyptian counterparts

Dar discusses regional situation with Turkish and Egyptian counterparts

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations on Saturday night with the foreign ministers of Turkiye and Egypt to discuss the evolving regional situation and progress towards an understanding between the United States and Iran, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a post on X, the ministry said Dar spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the two sides exchanged views on regional developments. The ministry said they welcomed what it described as encouraging progress towards an understanding between Washington and Tehran and expressed hope that the positive movement would help advance durable peace and stability in the region.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar and Fidan also agreed to stay in close contact over further developments.

Separate call with Egypt

In a separate telephone call, Dar spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two leaders reviewed the latest developments in the region, including progress towards an understanding between the United States and Iran.

The ministry said both sides voiced hope that these developments would support lasting peace, security and stability across the region. Dar and Abdelatty also agreed to maintain close coordination, according to the ministry.

Earlier contacts with other foreign ministers

Earlier on Saturday, Dar also held talks with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the peace momentum in the Middle East, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson in a press release.

The spokesperson said Dar and his counterparts welcomed the encouraging progress towards an understanding between the US and Iran and expressed hope that ongoing efforts would contribute to peace and stability in the region. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact.

The latest calls came as Pakistan continued diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners on recent Middle East developments, with the Foreign Office outlining a common emphasis on peace, security and continued coordination.
