Morning show host Nida Yasir is facing a wave of online trolling after describing herself as a millennial during a recent segment on her morning show.
The discussion, titled Millennials vs Generation Z, featured actor and host Amber Khan, who repeatedly referred to Yasir as a millennial throughout the programme.
During the conversation, the hosts compared the attitudes and lifestyles of different generations, with Yasir reflecting on what she described as the values of her generation.
“We believed that if our parents said no to something, it was final, like a stone carved in place. Whatever our parents decided, we accepted it. Even if they scolded or even hit us, we would not complain,” she said.
She then contrasted that with younger generations, recalling an incident involving her son.
“If you stop them from doing something, they want an explanation. I took away Balaj’s iPad because I felt his screen time was increasing. After that, he kept emotionally blackmailing me the whole day, saying things like, ‘Don’t you want to see me happy?’”
However, viewers quickly focused on something else entirely.
According to commonly accepted generational classifications, millennials are typically people born between 1981 and 1996. Yasir, who was born in 1972, falls within Generation X, prompting a flood of reactions online.
Many users found the mix-up amusing.
“I used to watch her dramas in my childhood. How come we both are millennials?” one user wrote.
Others were more blunt.
“She is not millennial though,” one commenter pointed out, while another simply wrote, “Generation X she is.”
One of the most-liked responses joked, “If you are a millennial then I’m not born yet.”
As the clip spread across social media, the conversation quickly shifted from generational differences to whether Yasir had accidentally promoted herself into a younger age bracket, with many viewers finding more entertainment in the classification debate than the segment itself.
