Alizeh Shah says actresses are faking short hair with wigs, calls chop offs 'self harm'

Alizeh Shah has kicked off yet another internet debate — this time over the viral short hair trend taking over Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

And according to her, fans are being completely fooled.

Taking to Instagram, the actor urged followers to stop rushing into dramatic haircuts after seeing actresses debut trendy short hairstyles online.

“Khuda k liay apnay baal qurbaan karna band karayn actresses se inspire ho k,” she wrote, essentially begging fans not to “sacrifice” their hair in the name of celebrity trends.

But things escalated quickly when she claimed many actresses are not even sporting real short hair to begin with.

“Aadho ne wig lagayi hui ha just to get attention, aadho ne baal pin up kiay huay hayn,” she alleged, claiming that half the celebrities are wearing wigs while others are simply pinning their hair up to fake the look.

That was the line that truly sent social media spiralling.

Alizeh then pointed out what she called the unfair reality behind the trend: celebrities can easily switch back to long hair using wigs and extensions, while ordinary people may spend years growing their hair back.

“Jis ek bandi ne actually baal kaatay hn wo to wig laga legi, ap logo ko 3 saal wait karna parega,” she wrote.

But the most controversial moment came when she described drastic short haircuts as “a form of self harm,” instantly dividing the internet.

Some social media users praised her for speaking honestly about beauty trends and celebrity image manipulation, while others accused her of overreacting and policing women’s choices.

Her comments appeared to reference the growing wave of Pakistani actresses experimenting with short hairstyles, including Hania Aamir, Sajal Aly and Saheefa Jabbar Khattak.

The actress has already been dominating online conversations in recent months due to her outspoken Instagram posts and celebrity feuds.

She previously made headlines after publicly criticising singer Zoha Wasim’s song “Majboor,” sparking a separate social media clash.

Now, her latest wig-and-haircut rant has become the internet’s newest celebrity battlefield — with fans arguing over whether she exposed an industry secret or simply took the trend way too seriously.
