ISLAMABAD: Actor Alizeh Shah and singer Zoha Waseem drew attention on social media this week after an online exchange linked to criticism of Waseem’s recent rehearsal performance.
According to the reported sequence of events, Shah used Instagram to comment on Waseem’s rehearsal set, in which the singer was seen performing her viral track Majboor and appearing upset with crew members over the wrong section of the track being played.
The criticism came after comments circulating online were attributed to Waseem. The alleged remark read:
Guys, she needs attention. God, jealousy on top. People don’t look at you and you are getting jealous of others
Shah later posted a video and a written message on her Instagram story in response. In that post, she wrote, "Learn how to sing your song without a tone, first. It’s not such horrible times that I have to be jealous of you."
She followed that with another pointed remark, saying:
Did anyone even know you before this stupid song? Get well soon, girl. You got four days of hype, don’t go overboard
In another clip shared online, Shah was seen covering her nose while imitating Waseem’s voice to the chorus of Majboor, while also saying she was tired of hearing the same lyrics repeatedly.
Waseem denies account behind alleged comments was hers
Waseem later responded on social media and said the account from which the alleged messages were posted did not belong to her. She stated that her official Instagram page is her only genuine social media account.
She also addressed the criticism directed at her performance and made light of the auto-tune allegations, writing:
Next time I will use better auto-tune, guys.
The exchange prompted mixed reactions online. Some social media users backed Shah’s criticism over the alleged use of auto-tune in the rehearsal performance. Others circulated clips of Waseem singing covers live and praised her vocal ability.
Song remains widely streamed
Waseem’s song Majboor, featuring Sheheryar Rehan, was released in September 2025. The track has since crossed more than 22.7 million streams.
The online dispute kept both Shah and Waseem in social media discussions during the week, with users debating the rehearsal clip, the authenticity of the alleged comments and the broader criticism surrounding the singer’s performance.
