Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti says the province is entering a new phase of digital governance and innovation. He highlighted the Digital Media Policy 2026 and an AI-based recruitment system aimed at improving transparency, merit and efficiency.

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Sunday said the province was entering what he described as a new phase of digital governance, transparency and innovation, while highlighting steps taken by his administration to modernise official systems.
In his message issued on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the chief minister said the provincial government had introduced what he called Balochistan’s first Digital Media Policy 2026. He described the move as an important development in the province’s efforts to improve communication and governance through modern tools.
Bugti said the government was putting in place advanced mechanisms aimed at strengthening transparency, merit and good governance in public affairs. Among the measures he mentioned was an artificial intelligence-based recruitment system, which he said had been designed to ensure fairness and efficiency in hiring.
The chief minister’s remarks focused on the role of technology in administrative reform and the use of digital systems to improve governance standards in the province. He said these initiatives reflected the government’s broader push to bring innovation into public sector functioning.
Digital policy and governance reforms
According to the chief minister, the newly introduced Digital Media Policy 2026 represents a milestone in the province’s reform agenda. He linked the policy to a wider effort to modernise official communication and make governance more transparent.
Bugti also underlined the importance of merit-based systems in public administration, saying the AI-based recruitment model was part of that approach. He said the system would help improve fairness while also making the recruitment process more efficient.
His statement came as part of official observance of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, during which he drew attention to the growing importance of digital tools in governance and institutional performance.
The chief minister further said that advanced systems were being implemented to reinforce transparency, merit and good governance across the province’s administrative structure.
He maintained that the provincial government’s digital initiatives were intended to support more effective governance and modern communication practices. The statement did not provide further operational details about the policy or the recruitment system, but it presented both as part of the government’s ongoing reform measures.
