Balochistan to launch digital monitoring system for field officers

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to introduce a digital monitoring system for field officers aimed at checking attendance, performance and oversight in the field.

Under the new arrangement, a live location-based attendance system will be put in place to confirm whether officers are present at their assigned stations and to allow real-time monitoring of development schemes.

The decision was taken on Monday during a provincial government meeting held to review progress on ongoing development projects across the province. During the session, secretaries of different departments presented detailed briefings on the status of current schemes.

The meeting examined the speed and standard of development work, the difficulties being faced during implementation, and practical steps to resolve those issues.

June deadline for ongoing schemes

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti instructed the relevant officials to ensure that all ongoing development projects are completed by June.

He said district officers should stay in the field rather than remain in Quetta so that projects could be implemented on time. The chief minister said effective field monitoring was necessary for the prompt resolution of public problems and for meeting development goals.

Mr Bugti also directed administrative heads to take strict action against officers who remain absent from the field for more than 10 days.

According to the chief minister, the digital monitoring mechanism is expected to improve the efficiency of government departments while also strengthening transparency and accountability.

The meeting focused on how closer supervision in the field could help improve execution of development work and address implementation challenges more effectively.

The proposed system is intended to link officer attendance with location verification, allowing the government to monitor both staff presence and the progress of projects simultaneously.

Officials from various departments briefed the meeting in detail on the current position of development schemes, as the provincial government reviewed ongoing work and discussed measures to improve delivery.
