PTI demands hospital transfer for Imran, Bushra over health concerns
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has demanded that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi be shifted to a hospital for treatment and medical tests. He said the party had grave concerns about their health after Bushra Bibi’s reported hospital visit.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Thursday called for former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to be shifted to a hospital for treatment and medical examinations under the supervision of their doctors.
In a statement, Barrister Gohar said he had been informed that Bushra Bibi was taken to a hospital the previous night for eye laser treatment and was later moved back. “I have requested for family meeting today. Awaiting that - we have grave concerns about Khan [sahib] and Bushra Bibi’s health,” he said.
The PTI chairman said both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi should be transferred to a hospital for treatment and medical tests in the presence of family members and under the care of their own doctors. “It is time to change this seek and hide approach to their health issues. Concern is growing. Immediate attention is required,” Barrister Gohar added.
Bushra Bibi’s hospital visit
Bushra Bibi, the wife of the former prime minister, was reportedly taken back to Adiala Jail on Wednesday after undergoing a medical examination at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi.
She was moved to the hospital under strict security arrangements for a scheduled follow-up examination of her eye, which had previously been operated on April 17 at the same facility. The sources also said periodic follow-up examinations had been conducted inside Adiala Jail since the surgery.
Last month, Bushra Bibi underwent eye surgery after complaining of impaired vision in her right eye, prompting the jail administration to arrange an immediate examination by ophthalmology specialists.
She was shifted to the healthcare facility on April 16 after doctors diagnosed retinal detachment and advised urgent surgery. After her consent was obtained, the procedure was performed by Dr Nadeem Qureshi along with a medical panel, at the time.
Following the operation and an overnight stay at the hospital, she was discharged and transferred back to Adiala Jail.
Case background
Bushra Bibi is serving a seven-year sentence in the £190 million corruption case. In December 2025, she was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment in the Toshakhana-2 case involving the under-priced purchase of luxury state gifts.
Barrister Gohar’s latest statement comes amid PTI’s stated concerns regarding the health of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, with the party pressing for hospital-based treatment and medical testing under transparent arrangements involving family members and personal doctors.
