Three killed, five injured in separate traffic accidents in Karachi

KARACHI: At least three people, including a child and a teenager, were killed and five others were injured in separate traffic accidents in different parts of Karachi on Wednesday, according to police and rescue officials.

One of the fatal incidents took place in Landhi’s Dawood Chowrangi area, where a seven-year-old boy, identified as Saad, died after a trailer ran over the motorcycle on which he was travelling with a relative. Police said the trailer driver was arrested and the vehicle was taken into custody, while an investigation into the incident is under way.

In another accident in Manghopir, a 15-year-old pedestrian, Nazim, was killed after being hit by a speeding loading truck. Police said the driver fled after the incident, but the vehicle was later seized.

A third fatal accident was reported in Clifton Block 4 near Benazir Park, where a 60-year-old man, Abdullah, lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. Police said the driver escaped from the scene.

Five injured in coach crash

Separately, five people, including four women, were injured when a passenger coach collided with a parked trailer at Murtaza Chowrangi.

Rescue officials said the injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment. Police detained the coach driver following the crash.

The incidents add to a series of traffic accidents reported in Karachi in recent days, with police continuing action against drivers involved in fatal and injury-causing crashes.

Authorities said legal and investigative proceedings were continuing in the cases where drivers had been arrested or vehicles had been impounded.
