Two killed and one injured in separate Karachi road accidents

KARACHI: Two people were killed and another was injured in separate traffic accidents in different parts of Karachi on Sunday, according to police and rescue officials.

In the first incident, a crash near Mauripur Truck Adda left one man dead and another injured. Police and rescue teams reached the site after receiving information about the accident.

Chhipa officials said both victims were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi. There, 30-year-old Hasnain was pronounced dead, while 28-year-old Zaid, son of Latif, was found to have sustained injuries.

Police said the two men were travelling on a motorcycle when it was reportedly struck by a loading truck. The truck driver was arrested at the scene and the vehicle was taken into custody, police said. Authorities added that an investigation into the incident is under way.

In a separate accident near the Toll Plaza on the Super Highway, a 17-year-old motorcyclist identified as Abdullah lost his life.

Rescue officials said Abdullah was riding with two other people when their motorcycle slipped near a U-turn because of oil spilled on the road. During the incident, Abdullah was hit by a passing dumper and died at the scene.

SHO Gadap Muhammad Ali said the dumper driver fled after the accident and efforts were being made to locate him.

The deceased was a resident of Dau Minute Chowrangi in New Karachi. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

Separate incidents under investigation

Both accidents took place in different areas of the city and involved motorcycles. In the Mauripur case, police said immediate action was taken against the truck driver, who was arrested on the spot. In the Super Highway incident, however, the driver of the dumper managed to escape, prompting a search operation.

Officials provided separate accounts of the two incidents, with rescue workers detailing the circumstances that led to Abdullah’s death near the Toll Plaza and Chhipa officials confirming the identities and condition of the victims in the Mauripur accident.

The two cases are being handled separately, with police continuing inquiries into the causes and circumstances of both crashes.
