'Pakistan emerging as a mature middle power'
Analysts say Pakistan is drawing growing international attention through diplomacy and is increasingly being seen as a mature middle power. They highlighted Islamabad’s role in peace promotion, mediation and global engagement.

ISLAMABAD: Analysts have lauded Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagement, saying Islamabad has drawn global attention as a centre for dialogue and positioned itself as a mature middle power influencing international affairs.
According to a report by The Express Tribune, analysts speaking across media platforms observed that Pakistan’s role in facilitating high-level engagements — including recent US-Iran talks — reflects a shift from traditional security strength to strategic diplomacy, marked by restraint, coordination and global relevance.
It reported that analysts see Islamabad’s growing visibility as a sign of evolving statecraft, where diplomatic engagement is increasingly shaping Pakistan’s global identity.
Dr Jamil Ahmad described Pakistan’s diplomacy as a blend of strategic vision and practical execution, saying the country is emerging as a credible and results-driven actor on the international stage.
Security analyst Maria Sultan pointed to Islamabad’s expanding role as a mediator, noting that Pakistan is demonstrating its ability to influence global agendas while promoting dialogue and de-escalation.
Dr Qamar Cheema said Pakistan is effectively combining its military credibility with diplomatic outreach, reinforcing its position as a middle power capable of navigating complex geopolitical challenges.
Khalid Qayyum observed that the international community is closely watching Islamabad, recognising what he described as a measured and pragmatic approach to global issues.
Ahmad Waraich added that Pakistan’s continued engagement reflects its ability to balance national interests with broader international responsibilities, strengthening its standing in an increasingly fragmented global order.
Analysts noted that while challenges remain, the country’s recent diplomatic activity signals a more assertive and structured foreign policy approach, with Islamabad increasingly shaping conversations rather than merely responding to them.
