Second Pakistani national killed in UAE by falling debris from aerial interception

Abu Dhabi — A Pakistani driver lost his life in Dubai’s Al Barsha area late Saturday night after debris from an aerial interception struck a vehicle, the Dubai Media Office said in a statement. This marks the second reported death of a Pakistani national in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) linked to falling debris amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The Dubai Media Office stated that the incident occurred when “debris from an aerial interception” landed on a vehicle. However, the statement did not specify the type of projectile that was intercepted or its origin.

The ongoing regional conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran. Since then, the war has expanded, with Iran targeting US assets and bases in Gulf countries, while Israel has carried out attacks in Lebanon.

On the same day the conflict began, the UAE’s defence ministry had also reported a fatality resulting from falling debris after air defences intercepted missiles targeting sites in Abu Dhabi. The ministry initially stated that an Asian national was killed when debris fell on a residential area of the city.

The latest incident in Dubai’s Al Barsha area underscores the risks faced by civilians in the region as military actions continue. Both fatalities involving Pakistani nationals have been attributed to debris resulting from aerial interceptions, according to official statements.

No further details regarding the identities of the victims or the specific circumstances of the interceptions have been provided in the statements released by UAE authorities.
