ABU DHABI: A Pakistani national has been killed in the United Arab Emirates after debris from an intercepted missile fell in the Bani Yas area of Abu Dhabi, highlighting the growing risks to civilians as the regional conflict intensifies.
According to Al Jazeera, the victim was identified by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, which confirmed that the fatality occurred due to falling debris following a missile interception.
The incident is part of a series of casualties involving Pakistanis caught in the spillover of the conflict triggered by strikes from the United States and Israel on Iran.
Earlier, on February 28, another Pakistani national was killed in the UAE during the interception of an Iranian missile. On March 8, a second Pakistani lost his life in Dubai’s Al Barsha area when debris struck a vehicle.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had expressed grief over the deaths and directed authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.
In a separate incident, a fisherman from Gwadar, identified as Muhammad Tayyab, was killed in Iranian waters after debris from an intercepted Israeli missile hit his boat.
Additionally, falling debris from an intercepted drone injured six Pakistani and Nepalese nationals in Abu Dhabi on March 6, underscoring the widespread impact of aerial engagements across the Gulf.
The broader conflict, which began on February 28 with coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, has since escalated into a cycle of retaliatory missile and drone attacks. These have targeted not only Israel but also US-linked and strategic sites across Gulf countries, placing expatriate communities — including large numbers of Pakistanis — at increasing risk.
