Promotions, seniority and scholarships approved for martyrs’ families
LAHORE: Punjab Police continued to pay homage to the supreme sacrifices of its martyrs as the 17th death anniversary of Shaheed Constable Mudassar Hussain was solemnly observed. Shaheed Mudassar Hussain, who was posted in the Punjab Constabulary and hailed from district Chakwal, laid down his life in the line of duty.
On the occasion, a smartly turned-out contingent of the Punjab Constabulary presented a salute at the grave of the Shaheed. Senior officers of Punjab Constabulary Battalion-2, Rawat, visited the grave, laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha in remembrance of the fallen hero.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, Shaheed Constable Mudassar Hussain embraced martyrdom in 2009 in Sargodha while performing checkpoint duty, after being targeted by criminal elements. The spokesperson said the Shaheed’s sacrifice stands as a shining symbol of the supremacy of law and the unwavering commitment to the protection of citizens.
Senior officers also met the family members of the Shaheed, paid tribute to their courage and patience, and saluted the great sacrifice rendered by their loved one. A cheque for financial assistance was presented to the family by the Battalion Commander as a gesture of continued institutional support.
IGP reiterates commitment to welfare of police employees, martyrs’ families
Meanwhile, Abdul Kareem, Inspector General of Police, Punjab, reiterated his commitment to the welfare of police employees and families of martyrs, maintaining that their concerns would continue to receive top priority.
As part of his regular interaction with police personnel and martyrs’ families, the IG Punjab personally heard their issues and issued on-the-spot directives to the relevant officers for immediate resolution.
According to details, directions were issued to the Additional IG Punjab to provide relief on applications regarding the promotion of Inspectors Zarrar Ahmad Khan and Matiullah. On the request of retired DSP Sheikh Fayyaz Ahmad for restoration of seniority, instructions were issued to DIG Establishment-I to examine the case and provide relief in accordance with rules.
Similarly, on the application concerning the educational scholarship of the son of late Sub-Inspector Muhammad Tahir, directions were issued to DIG Welfare and Finance to grant relief. On the request submitted by the widow of late Wireless Constable Furqan Ali for a scholarship for her son, DIG Welfare and Finance was also directed to take immediate action.
Furthermore, on the application of ASI Maqsood Shahid regarding the hearing of his appeal, orders were issued to DIG Establishment-I to provide relief. Directions were likewise issued to DIG Welfare and Finance on an application related to the payment of benefits to the sister of a martyred constable.
The IGP reaffirmed that Punjab Police would continue to stand by its personnel and the families of martyrs, honouring their sacrifices through sustained welfare measures and prompt redressal of grievances.
