Nadra official reported missing in Karachi as family seeks police help

KARACHI: The family of a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) officer has asked police to help recover him after he went missing in Karachi, according to an application submitted to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho.

The application, filed by Sohail Sangi, stated that his younger son, Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi, who serves as an assistant director at Nadra, had been missing since 6:30pm on July 20. The family said they repeatedly tried to contact him after that time, but his phone remained switched off.

According to the application, the family also reached out to his colleagues, who told them that Janjhi had left his office at Ayesha Manzil at around 6pm on Monday. The application said he did not return home. It also stated that neither Janjhi nor his family had any enmity with anyone, while urging the authorities to formally register the matter and trace him.

Janjhi’s elder brother, Riaz Sohail, said the family had approached the Sindh police chief, who then assigned the case to Central SSP Imran Khan. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan also raised the matter on X, saying it was concerned over the disappearance of Fayaz Janjhi, identifying him as the son of HRCP council member Sohail Sangi, and calling on the Sindh government to speed up efforts for his safe recovery.
