Supplementary challan filed in Karachi case against alleged drug network head Anmol alias Pinky

KARACHI: A supplementary charge sheet was submitted to a Karachi court on Tuesday in a case involving Anmol alias Pinky, who investigators describe as the head of a drug trafficking network.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) filed the supplementary challan, which states that 21 cases have been registered against Anmol. She was arrested in May in two cases lodged at the Garden police station over alleged possession of narcotics and an unlicensed weapon. The case drew public attention after a video circulated on social media showing her being taken to court without handcuffs.

According to the supplementary charge sheet submitted by the CTD’s senior superintendent of police, three suspects were arrested in Akhtar Colony in 2018, including Anmol’s brother Nasir. The challan states that police recovered a large quantity of hashish and cocaine from the accused.

The investigating officer said the interrogation of the arrested suspects linked the case to Anmol. As recorded in the challan, suspect Maiser Ali told investigators that another accused, Aamir, had informed him that he worked for

The challan further says Aamir had spoken to Anmol by telephone and that the accused disclosed they supplied drugs across Karachi on her instructions.

The supplementary challan says the price of one gram of the narcotics ranged between Rs12,000 and Rs15,000, and that the rate had been fixed by Pinky. The investigating officer stated that, on the basis of these disclosures, Anmol was questioned in the women’s jail where she is being held. According to the challan, she admitted to being the ringleader of the drug network and was then formally arrested in this case as well.

The charge sheet also states that Nasir told police Anmol was his real sister and that the rest of the family had gone to Lahore after becoming upset. The names of 14 witnesses, including the investigating officer, have been listed in the supplementary challan.

Previous cases and court appearances

Before her arrest in May, Anmol had already been booked in several other criminal cases. Since being taken into custody, she has been produced in court under heavy police security.
