Alleged drug network operator Anmol alias Pinky arrested

KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies have arrested an alleged high-profile narcotics operator in what officials described as a major action against drug networks active in the city’s upscale neighbourhoods.

The suspect, identified as Anmol, also known as Pinky, was taken into custody during a raid targeting a group allegedly involved in supplying costly synthetic drugs in posh areas of Karachi.

According to information available from the investigation, the network was allegedly dealing in ice, also known as crystal meth, cocaine, ecstasy and party pills. Investigators believe the accused had been operating an organised distribution setup for several years and had become a significant figure in the city’s illegal drug trade.

Initial findings indicate that the suspect was allegedly involved in trafficking narcotics worth millions of rupees every month. Investigators also said the operation was not limited to supply alone, as the accused had allegedly introduced branded packaging for deliveries. "Boxes used in the supply chain reportedly carried labels and markings linked to her identity, reflecting an attempt to establish a recognisable 'brand' within the illegal trade," the source said.

Network under investigation

Investigators have claimed that the alleged network was not confined to residential localities. They said it also had links to the supply of drugs in educational institutions, a factor that has added to the seriousness of the case.

Officials said Anmol alias Pinky had been under the watch of multiple agencies for a considerable period and was wanted in several cases. They added that numerous raids had previously been carried out in attempts to arrest her, but those efforts had not succeeded until the latest operation.

Following her arrest, the suspect was moved to an undisclosed location for questioning. Officials expect the interrogation to produce information that could help investigators trace and dismantle the wider network allegedly connected to the case.

The arrest is being seen as a significant development in the broader crackdown on narcotics distribution in Karachi, particularly in affluent areas where expensive synthetic drugs are said to be in circulation. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged supply chain, its reach and the individuals linked to it.

Officials believe further disclosures during interrogation may assist in identifying other members of the network and uncovering the full scale of the alleged operation.
