Nauman Ijaz vows to ban TV dramas if made censor board chairman

Popular actor and host with numerous successful dramas under his belt, recently made a striking statement during a television show. He expressed his stance on television dramas and the portrayal of family relationships, stating that if he were appointed as the chairman of the censor board, he would opt to shut down all TV dramas.

In his remarks, Ijaz highlighted his concerns regarding the depiction of family dynamics in dramas, emphasizing that relationships were often portrayed in a derogatory manner. He lamented the degradation of family values and expressed his disappointment, questioning why viewers didn’t express their discontent more vehemently.

According to Ijaz, television dramas have often depicted family members such as mothers, sisters, brothers, mothers-in-law, and fathers in a negative light, undermining the sanctity of these relationships.

He further remarked on the societal impact of television content, stressing the need for greater awareness about the influence of media portrayals on social norms and values. Despite his concerns, Ijaz noted that negative characters tend to attract more attention and popularity, which he found troubling.

Citing an example of a drama where a negative portrayal of a sister-in-law garnered high ratings, Ijaz expressed amusement at the irony but also underscored the prevalence of negativity in society. He expressed a desire to bring about positive change and combat the prevailing negativity in television content.
