Massive asteroid to pass near Earth. Is there any threat?

Astronomers have warned about a large space rock called 2013 NK4 which will pass near Earth, suggesting that it could be seen with a small telescope, reported Earth Sky.

The 2000-feet-diameter asteroid will be passing at a distance equal to 8 times that of between Earth and Moon.

It is said to be twice as large as the doomsday asteroid that is estimated to closely pass by the human-made satellites of Earth in 2029.

The closest path of 2013 NK4 will be on Monday, April 15, 2024, and could be visible in the night sky on April 16 and 17.

This asteroid has its own path and occasionally passes near Earth. It has been designated by experts as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid.

The report underlined no threat to Earth as it will be passing by our planet.

The asteroid has 378 days of orbit around the Sun and is slightly more elliptical than ours.

The speed of the space rock is estimated at 36,909 miles per hour (59,400 km per hour) or 10.2 miles per second (16.5 km per second), relative to Earth.

Scientists associated with Nasa said they intend to study the asteroid from California from April 13 to 19.A

According to the report, observations of the space rock are scheduled from April 14, from Canberra, Australia.
