Low human capital investment could limit Pakistan’s growth, warns Alvi

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has called for increased investment in human capital by the institutional and political leadership to address the issue of inadequate human capital investment in the country.

In a tweet, he urged the nation’s leadership to “sober up, unite [and] deliver.”

He shared an article published in a national daily, which reported on a World Bank report highlighting the low Human Capital Index (HCI) value of Pakistan.

The report suggests that if Pakistan continues on its current trajectory in human capital development, its GDP per capita would only grow by 18 percent through 2047.

The president stressed that low human capital investment will limit Pakistan’s ability to achieve its ambition to become an upper-middle-income country by 2047.
