Miserable roads

Despite being one of the most populated and sprawling cities of the country, Karachi has the worst road infrastructure. While the condition of roads was already miserable, the monsoon spell proved to be the final nail in the city infrastructure’s coffin.

The road from Gulberg Chowrangi to Nagan Chowrangi has been rough, uneven and broken for a very long time. It is busy round the clock as it has hospitals, wedding halls, schools and shops on either side of it. The huge cracks and potholes on the road create difficulties for the commuters, especially for those using public transport. The elderly and sick, who suffer from body and joint pain, are affected the most by the innumerable jerks and bumps. Moreover, traffic chaos is frequent, making it difficult for ambulances to make their way to hospitals.

Unfortunately, most of the roads in the city are in a similar condition. Who is responsible for the inconvenience and trouble caused to the people day and night? Why are there no checks on the quality of material used for road construction? For how long will we suffer the consequences of such irresponsible behaviour of the officials?
