First time-ever, MMAP hosts mixed martial art contest in Marden

MARDEN: For first time in history of Pakistan, under the auspices of Mixed Martial Art Pakistan (MMAP), the first mixed martial art competitions were organized in Mardan.

Chairman Pakistan Mixed Martial Art, Shoaib Afzal Malik and President Babar Raja along with KP Sports and Culture Minister Atif Khan participated in the concluding ceremony of the competition as special guests.

According to details, on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, under the auspices of Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts, mixed martial arts competitions were organized for the first time at Mardan Sports Complex, in which Chairman Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Shoaib Afzal Malik and President Babar Raja along with KP Minister of Sports and Culture Atif Khan participated as a special guest.

On the occasion, famous singers and artists also performed their magic with mellifluous voice. More than 30 fighters took part in different categories of the mega event of martial art.

The exciting and thrilling fights of the fighters won the hearts of the fans. At the end of MMA Mega Fights event, KP Minister of Sports and Culture Atif Khan along with Chairman PMMA Federation Shoaib Afzal Malik and President Babar Raja distributed prizes to the fighters who took positions.

On the occasion, Shoaib Afzal Malik also gave a cash prize of Rs0.8 million to encourage the best fighters. He said purpose of the contest was to promote the sport of mixed martial arts and bring forward the talented youth at national level, adding that such contests would go long way in exploring talent for the country to be represented at international level. The organizers lauded the KP govt support and youth would get opportunities through such competition to shine name of the country both at nation and international levels.
