Shameful that ration card holders being forced to buy ‘Tiranga’: Rahul

NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said that ration card holders were being forced to buy the national flag by the shopkeepers, and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of selling “nationalism” and hurting the poor’s self-respect.

In a Facebook post in Hindi, Gandhi said tricolour is our pride and it resides in every Indian’s heart. “Nationalism can never be sold. It is,” Gandhi stated.

“Along with the tricolour, the BJP government is also attacking the self-respect of the poor of our country,” Gandhi said as he shared a video purportedly showing some ration card holders complaining about being forced to pay Rs20 to buy the flag.”

HINDUTVA GOONS ATTACK MUHARRAM PROCESSION

The Hindutva goons attacked and injured two Muslim youths during a Muharram procession in Indian state Karnatka.

The Hindutva group Ram Sene attacked and injured Tausif Hosmani (23) and Mushtaq Hosmani (24) during a Muharram procession in Gadag’s Mallasamudra area of the state.

Tausif works in the billing section of a private industry while Mushtaq is a college student. Superintendent of Police (SP), Shivprakash Devaraju said that the injuries of the two youth were deep and are currently being treated.

The SP also said the exact reason behind the attack is still unknown and added that the accused were arrested and a case had been filed against them.
