Pak taekwondo team reaches Turkiye to participate in 5th ISGs

KARACHI: The Pakistan Taekwondo has reached Konya, Türkiye to feature in 5th Islamic Solidarity Games (ISGs).

Pakistani athletes will be in action from August 8 to 12; the seven-member kyorogi squad include Mazhar Abbas, Hamza Omar Saeed, Haroon Khan, Shahzaib Khan, Fatima tuz Zahra, Naqsh Hamdani, and Noor Rehman. Yousuf Karimi and Najia Rasool are male and female coaches.

The solidarity games are the biggest sports event in the Muslim world in which athletes from as many as 57 countries are taking part.

According to Lt-Col (r) Raja Wasim Ahmed Janjua, President PTF; Omar Saeed, CEO of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation all the athletes and coaches are being sponsored and taken care of by the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination and Pakistan Sports Board while the expenses of both main stakeholders of the federation will be paid on their own to boost and encourage their officials and athletes.

Meanwhile, the PTF officials are thankful to Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) for the administrative support.

Federation’s President Waseem Janjua and the team Head and CEO of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Omar Saeed said the team will perform well in this mega Muslim World Sporting event as it is upbeat and well-prepared by undergoing rigorous training and preparatory sessions.

PTF President Raja Wasim Ahmed Janjua also pins high expectations on the Taekwondo team and is hopeful for better results by the team.

It is pertinent to mention here that mainly the renowned and ranked athletes of Muslim countries from Asia, Africa, and European will be featuring in the 10-day Muslim World’s biggest sporting extravaganza.
