Amateur mountaineers honored

SWAT: Commissioner Malakand Division, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Wednesday awarded certificates of appreciation to young mountaineers – Syed Zeeshan Umar and Nauman Khalil for climbing the highest peak in Swat district.

The young mountaineers met Commissioner Malakand Division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai at Commissioner’s Office in Saidu Sharif. In the meeting, the commissioner termed the brave off effort of the young mountaineers not only an honor for Swat, but for Pakistan and assured all kinds of support will be provided to young mountaineers. He said that the growing trend of mountaineering among the youth will play an important role in the promotion of healthy activities.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Swat, Junaid Khan presented cheque of Rs50,000 each to the young mountaineers.

It is important to mention here that Syed Zeeshan Umar and Noman Khalil have accomplished the expedition of climbing to Falak Sar, the highest mountain peak in Swat district, on a self-help basis.
