LPL 2022: Nine Pakistani cricketers picked, Imad among most expensive picks

The players’ draft for the 2022 edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) was held on Tuesday. Various franchises picked nine cricketers from Pakistan.

Galle Gladiators bagged all-rounder Imad Wasim for $60,000. He is among the most expensive players.

Meanwhile, Asif Ali was bagged by Colombo Stars for $50,000, Faheem Ashraf ($50,000) by Galle Gladiators, and veteran batter Shoaib Malik for $40,000 by Jaffna Kings.

Jaffna also got the services of Shahnawaz Dahani for $25000 while Galle Gladiators bagged Azam Khan for the same price.

Emerging batter Haider Ali went to Dambulla Giants for $25000. Meanwhile, pacer Usman Shinwari and Sarfaraz Ahmed were picked for $15000 respectively by Kandy Falcons and Galle Gladiators.

The 2022 Draft included a total of 353 players, including 173 Sri Lankan first-class players, International and ex-International players, and 180 foreign players.

The five-team competition will end on August 21, 2022, and will take place in Colombo and Hambantota.
