The federal government has formally cleared Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, ending days of speculation over the national team’s involvement in the tournament.
The approval, however, includes a clear condition that Pakistan will not play the scheduled match against India on February 15, 2026. Officials said the decision strikes a balance between remaining part of the global event and addressing concerns surrounding the high-profile fixture.
The move follows prolonged uncertainty over whether Pakistan would take part in the competition at all, amid political and logistical deliberations at multiple levels.
Despite the absence of the Pakistan–India contest, Pakistan will continue its campaign in the tournament, which is set to feature leading cricketing nations from across the world and attract significant international attention.
Authorities indicated that further details regarding Pakistan’s fixtures and arrangements will be communicated through official channels as the tournament approaches.
