LAHORE: KIPS College Chief Executive Officer Abid Wazir Khan, who was abducted from Lahore’s Johar Town area a day earlier, returned to his residence safely on Thursday, police confirmed.
Officials said Mr Khan’s medical condition was satisfactory and that he did not require immediate treatment following his recovery. Police added that investigations into the abduction were continuing and that efforts were under way to identify and arrest those responsible.
According to law enforcement authorities, a case had been registered at Johar Town Police Station shortly after the incident was reported. The first information report stated that Mr Khan was kidnapped while leaving his office.
The FIR further said that at the time of the abduction, Mr Khan was speaking on the phone with a female general manager. During the call, she reportedly heard the voice of an unidentified individual who told the victim that his vehicle had been involved in an accident.
Police sources said the suspects subsequently moved Mr Khan through different parts of the city, including areas along Multan Road. The location of his vehicle was later traced near Manga Mandi, prompting an expanded search operation in the surrounding localities.
Initial findings suggest that at least three individuals were involved in the kidnapping. Investigators believe the suspects were attempting to take the victim out of Lahore before law enforcement agencies intensified their response.
Six police teams were formed to conduct route tracking and surveillance in and around the Manga Mandi area, officials said. Authorities are examining whether the abduction was carried out for ransom or motivated by other factors.
Police said a detailed statement from Mr Khan would be recorded as part of the investigation. They added that all aspects of the incident would be examined and that those involved would be traced and brought to justice once the inquiry is completed.
Law enforcement officials reiterated that further details would be shared after the conclusion of the investigation.
