Met Office forecasts rain and snow in multiple regions

LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain, fog, and light snowfall in several areas, as cold weather conditions continue to intensify across much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dense cloud cover has persisted over Peshawar and surrounding areas, further lowering temperatures. The department forecasts dry, very cold weather for most regions, while upper and mountainous areas are expected to remain extremely cold with partly cloudy skies.

Light rain and snowfall are expected in Upper Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Upper Swat, and Mansehra. In the plains, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Karak, and Bannu, fog formation is likely during the night and early morning hours. This will reduce visibility, particularly in Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan, as well as along motorways, national highways, and the GT Road.

The department also warned that mist could develop late at night and in the early morning across both upper and plain areas of the province.

Meanwhile, cold weather conditions have also tightened their grip on South Punjab. Several cities, including Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan, continue to experience cold mornings and nights with limited sunshine. The chill has been further exacerbated by fog and moisture near canals and low-lying areas, particularly during nighttime.
