ISLAMABAD: A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck several parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Chitral, and Dir, on Friday, according to reports.
Seismological authorities said the tremors were felt at around 10:39am. The earthquake had a depth of 12 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
The sudden shaking prompted residents to rush out of their homes, many reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba in fear. No casualties or property damage were reported in initial assessments.
Earlier this week, Karachi and nearby areas were also shaken by an earthquake measuring 5.2 in magnitude, with a depth of 12 kilometers.
The Seismological Centre said the tremors were recorded at 12:51am and were felt in multiple localities, including SITE Area, Saddar, Clifton, DHA Phase 8, and PECHS.
Residents of Shah Faisal Colony, Liaquatabad, and Buffer Zone also reported experiencing the quake, with people in Liaquatabad describing the tremors as particularly intense.
