ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday heard proceedings in the murder case of journalist Arshad Sharif, during which the Additional Attorney General submitted a detailed progress report on the investigation.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Amir Farooq took up the matter after the court initiated suo motu proceedings in the case.
During the hearing, the Additional Attorney General informed the bench that the report included findings compiled so far by the Joint Investigation Team, along with recommendations outlining the future course of the probe.
The court was told that the JIT is expected to visit the crime scene in Kenya to collect additional evidence, after which the investigation’s conclusions would be finalised.
After reviewing the submissions, the court adjourned further proceedings until after the winter vacations.
Arshad Sharif was killed in Kenya in October 2022, triggering widespread calls for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
