Punjab starts registration drive to regulate kite flying ahead of Basant

LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has begun the formal registration of kite and string manufacturers, sellers, and kite-flying associations to ensure regulated and safe activities ahead of Basant.

The department said detailed procedures have been prepared for kite and string makers, shopkeepers, and buyers, while the registration framework for kite-flying associations has also been finalized.

Form A has been declared mandatory for registration, and registered individuals will receive an official certificate through Form B.

For kite-flying associations, Form C and Form D have been designated.

The Home Department said the size, material, and quality of kites and strings will be enforced in line with Schedule One, and the production or sale of substandard or chemical-coated string remains prohibited.

Registered associations will work with district administrations under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner to ensure arrangements for Basant and prevent unsafe or banned activities.

Officials stated that any violation of the regulations will lead to cancellation of registration and legal action. The department added that the first phase of implementing the code of conduct for a safe and organized Basant has been completed.
