Punjab imposes ban on mobile phone use in all schools

LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has enforced a complete ban on mobile phone usage by students in both government and private schools across the province.

An official notification, sent to all education authorities, instructed schools to immediately implement the ban without any exceptions.

In addition to the ban, schools are encouraged to promote student participation in co-curricular and personality-building activities, which are deemed crucial for healthy mental and social development.

The decision follows a resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly, with the aim of fostering a more focused academic environment and protecting students from the negative impacts of mobile phone usage during school hours. Officials stated that the measure is intended to enhance discipline, minimize distractions, and create a safer, healthier learning environment.
