With the winter season setting in and exams underway in schools across Pakistan, the Education Departments in Balochistan and Punjab have announced extended winter vacations for students.
In Balochistan, government schools will remain closed for two and a half months starting from December 16, 2025. The break is part of the province’s annual winter vacation schedule. In Chaman, exams for students in grades one to seven are currently being held, while the grade eight board exams are scheduled to begin on November 24, 2025.
In Punjab, winter vacations have been announced from December 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with schools set to reopen on January 13, 2026. Despite rumors circulating about the possibility of early school closures due to smog, provincial authorities have clarified that no such decision has been made yet.
Additionally, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration of Mansehra has declared a three-day holiday for all schools from November 22 to November 24, 2025, due to the upcoming by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-18. All government and private schools in the district will remain closed during this period to ensure safety during the election.
