ISLAMABAD: The Ghaus Bahar Public Library in Ormara, Gwadar, has received a solar power system under the China Aid – For Shared Future initiative to ensure uninterrupted electricity for the facility, which serves as a key learning centre for local students and teachers.
According to Gwadar Pro, Ormara Tehsildar Noor Khan received the consignment from Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Hamood-ur-Rehman. The shipment, marked with the China Aid insignia, includes solar panels, an inverter, batteries and wiring equipment. Installation work will begin shortly to make the system operational.
Located along the Makran Coast between Gwadar and Karachi, Ormara is one of Balochistan’s historic coastal towns. The solar upgrade is expected to provide steady power to the library, allowing extended study hours and improving learning conditions for both male and female students.
The Ghaus Bahar Public Library, once near abandonment, has recently been renovated through the combined efforts of the local administration and community volunteers, transforming it into an active centre for reading and research.
The Balochistan government, in coordination with the Gwadar district administration, has stepped up efforts to promote literacy by upgrading schools and libraries across the coastal belt. Last week, the Gunz Mubarak Qazi Library near Jiwani was inaugurated by MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch and Deputy Commissioner Hamood-ur-Rehman.
In June, the Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Digital Library was launched in Gwadar, now regarded as one of Pakistan’s most advanced digital libraries.
