Afridi convenes maiden KP cabinet session for Nov 14

PESHAWAR: The first official meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet under Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi is scheduled for November 14, with a 53-point agenda prepared ahead of the session.

Sources said 10 ministers, one special assistant, and two advisers have been invited to attend. The meeting will formally approve the Peace Jirga Declaration and review several key administrative and development issues.

The agenda includes approval for replacing 25 official vehicles used by district and sessions judges and a 20% increase in toll taxes on the Swat Expressway. Various resolutions previously passed by the provincial assembly will also be presented for implementation.

The cabinet is expected to consider lifting the ban on the purchase of VIP vehicles for the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and formally approve the “One Farmer, One Cow” initiative aimed at boosting agriculture and rural livelihoods.

Additionally, approval is anticipated for special funds for the rehabilitation of Tirah and North Waziristan affectees, while a proposal to provide a bulletproof vehicle for a Peshawar High Court bench is also on the table.

Performance reports from multiple departments will be reviewed, and Chief Minister Afridi is expected to issue new directives to improve provincial governance and accelerate development projects.
