Muqam slams KP CM’s ‘irresponsible’ remarks, demands apology to nation and armed forces

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) President Engr Amir Muqam on Monday lashed out at the KP Chief Minister over his “immature and irresponsible” remarks against state institutions, demanding a public apology to the nation, the security forces, and families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace.

Speaking at a ceremony where renowned KP businessman Qazi Waqas joined the PML-N, Muqam said such statements undermine the credibility of state institutions and the morale of families who lost loved ones in the fight against terrorism.

“He should realise the situation that he was not addressing to the political gathering, the incumbent of CM offered several responsibilities and any statements and remarks caused the widespread impact,” he said.

While remembering the sacrifices of innocent civilians in different parts of the province before the security forces, he said there are several political figures who lost two to three beloved ones in different attacks.

He said, “It is due to the sacrifices of security forces the sovereignty and peace maintained yet, contrary to the past turmoil like situation particularly in KP province.”

He also questioned whether the CM could guarantee the safety and integrity of Pakistan for even “two days” if the security forces presence was withdrawn from the borders and former tribal regions.

Criticizing the policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) regarding the developments and welfare of the people, he noted that they are ruling the province for more than twelve years, accusing them of relying solely on social media and empty slogans, while failing to deliver tangible results to the public who continuously gave them a mandate.

PM’s Coordinator Ikhtiyar Wali Khan condemns KP CM’s remarks against armed forces

Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Affairs Ikhtiyar Wali Khan has strongly condemned the recent statement made by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi against the Pakistan Armed Forces, calling it “deeply offensive and disgraceful.”

In a statement issued on Monday, Wali Khan said the KP Chief Minister had targeted the very institution entrusted with the protection of the Haramain Sharifain (the Holy Mosques).

Wali Khan stated that the remarks insult the soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation. “Hundreds of officers and thousands of soldiers return home wrapped in the national flag, and their mothers feel pride, not sorrow. The KP Chief Minister is disrespecting their sacrifices,” he added.

He accused Sohail Afridi of attempting to spread hatred against the armed forces, describing his words as echoing the rhetoric of “Pakistan’s enemies, particularly India and Israel.”
