Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference begins with int’l arrivals

ISLAMABAD: Foreign parliamentary delegations have begun arriving in Islamabad ahead of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, set to start tomorrow, Tuesday.

Delegations from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Palestine, Algeria, Barbados, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Tajikistan, Morocco, Maldives, Serbia, the Philippines, and Rwanda have reached the capital.

Senator Nadeem Bhutto, Senator Sarmad Ali, and Senior DG Senate Tariq Bin Waheed welcomed the visiting delegates upon their arrival.

The conference is expected to bring together Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and parliamentary representatives from over 40 countries, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy.

Organisers said the event aims to provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of best practices among parliamentary leaders. Delegates will discuss key global challenges and explore avenues for international cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and parliamentary engagement worldwide.

The historic gathering marks a step toward fostering mutual respect and collaboration among participating nations, with Pakistan hosting a central role in facilitating these discussions.
