LAHORE: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday reviewed the ongoing counterterrorism operations in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prevailing Pakistan-Afghanistan border situation, and measures aimed at restoring durable peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders met at the interior minister’s residence in Lahore, where they discussed the overall law and order situation in the province, recent terrorist incidents, and the government’s broader security strategy.

Paying tribute to the security forces, both Kundi and Naqvi commended the personnel engaged in counterterrorism operations against Indian-backed militant groups. They lauded the professionalism and courage of troops and law enforcement officials, particularly those who laid down their lives in recent attacks targeting the Police Training Centre (PTC) and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Dera Ismail Khan.

The governor and the minister expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of police officers and other security personnel, underscoring that their sacrifices would not be in vain. They also discussed the reconstruction and rehabilitation of facilities damaged during the recent terrorist attacks, stressing that the process must be completed swiftly to restore normalcy and confidence in affected communities.

Governor Kundi reaffirmed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have consistently demonstrated resilience and patriotism in the face of terrorism. He said peace and stability were indispensable for the province’s development, social harmony, and economic progress.

He noted that intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against terrorists and anti-state networks were yielding results and must continue with full force to ensure long-term public safety. “The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are peace-loving and have stood shoulder to shoulder with the security institutions in the fight against terrorism,” he said, adding that national unity and community vigilance were key to eliminating extremist elements.

The Interior Minister reaffirmed the federal government’s unwavering resolve to root out terrorism and strengthen border management mechanisms to prevent infiltration. He said the government was fully committed to supporting provincial authorities and security agencies in their operations against militant groups.

“The nefarious designs of Indian-backed terrorists will never succeed. Pakistan’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies are working in close coordination to neutralize every threat to national security,” the minister asserted.

Naqvi highlighted that the sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been instrumental in ensuring the country’s overall security and unity. He acknowledged their steadfastness in the face of repeated terrorist attacks, saying that their courage continues to inspire the entire nation.
