Punjab government plans second airport near Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab government is moving forward with plans to build a new airport in Lahore, with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) identifying a potential site near Ravi City, close to the M-3 motorway.

The proposed airport will be situated around 30 kilometers from Allama Iqbal International Airport. While consultations on the project’s cost and financing model are ongoing, authorities emphasized that the plan is still in its early stages.

This new airport aims to alleviate pressure on Lahore’s existing air traffic system and provide opportunities for job creation and investment. No specific timeline or final financing decisions have been disclosed.
