More than 2,700 TLP members detained following violent protests across Punjab

Punjab Police have arrested 2,716 members of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) involved in violent protests across the province, according to an official report.

The arrests include 251 protesters in Lahore, 178 in Sheikhupura, 190 in Mandi Bahauddin, and 155 in Rawalpindi. Additionally, 143 individuals were detained in Faisalabad, 135 in Gujranwala, 128 in Sialkot, and 121 in Attock. Police have registered a total of 76 First Information Reports (FIRs) across Punjab, with 39 cases filed in Lahore, the highest in the province, followed by eight in Sheikhupura.

The protests led to injuries for 250 police officers and personnel, with one inspector martyred in the clashes. Lahore reported the highest number of casualties, with 142 officers injured, while 48 officers were hurt in Sheikhupura. Authorities have pledged to continue their operations until full peace is restored in the region.

Security sources revealed that the organizers of the recent TLP protests have been identified, and a list of their names has been shared with law enforcement. Geo-fencing, call data records, and surveillance have exposed key figures and facilitators behind the protests. A crackdown is expected soon, with special teams working to trace financial support for TLP through banking records.

TLP leader Saad Hussain Rizvi and several workers have been charged with terrorism in relation to violent attacks on police in Rawat, Taxila, and Muridke. The government has implemented a zero-tolerance policy against those involved in the disturbances.
