Pakistan rejects any misleading stance on Kashmir: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed that Pakistan will never accept any controversial or misleading position regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, reiterating that India’s illegal claims over the territory are in direct violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In a statement issued from Islamabad, President Zardari said Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir remains rooted in principles of justice, self-determination, and adherence to international commitments.

He said that “every illegal claim by India regarding Kashmir is against international law and UN resolutions” and that Pakistan will continue to stand by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their legitimate struggle for freedom.

Criticizing recent remarks by Afghan leadership, President Zardari said Afghanistan had done injustice to both history and the Muslim Ummah by ignoring the plight of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He noted that attacks by Fitna al-Khawarij from Afghan soil were a documented fact, as verified by several United Nations reports.

“Pakistan has made it clear that the nexus between Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan is targeting Pakistani civilians and security personnel,” the president stated. He urged Kabul to take concrete and verifiable action against anti-Pakistan terrorist elements operating from its territory.

Describing the alliance of these militant groups as “the gravest threat to regional peace and stability,” Zardari emphasized that the fight against terrorism was a collective responsibility that could not be shouldered by one nation alone.

He reminded that Pakistan had hosted millions of Afghan refugees for more than four decades, setting an example of Islamic brotherhood and good neighbourly relations. “Pakistan has shown patience, goodwill, and restraint for years, but this should never be mistaken for weakness,” the president added.

Zardari reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region but will never compromise on its sovereignty or national security.
