Jaishankar, Muttaqi meeting: India trying to regain its lost influence in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: An important meeting was held in New Delhi between Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Afghan Foreign Minister Molvi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

This meeting held on October 10 marked a new beginning in the relations between the two countries.

This meeting between Jaishankar and Amir Khan Muttaqi is a manifestation of the fact that India is trying to regain its lost influence in Afghanistan and restore its weak position in the south Asian region.

Many countries in South Asia are now not ready to recognize India’s hegemony and are pursuing their own independent foreign policy. In this situation, the Afghan foreign minister’s visit to India is very surprising.

India is trying to woo the Afghan government and people by mentioning its deep cultural and historical ties with the Afghan people, however, analysts believe the purpose of this kind of Indian rhetoric is actually to gain maximum influence in Afghanistan and use its territory for terrorist activities against Pakistan. This has been the policy of Indian intelligence agencies in the past as well. Indian agencies had established their network in Afghanistan for subversive activities in Pakistan even before 2021.

India is constantly chanting the slogan of terrorism against Pakistan, it is ridiculously accusing Pakistan of being involved in terrorism, although it has now become clear to the whole world that India is involved in terrorist activities not only in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan but also in other neighboring countries as well as globally.

Pakistan has in the past exposed several Indian secret networks operating from Afghanistan, which have been found to be involved in cowardly acts of destabilizing Pakistan. India actually wants to complete its nefarious plans against Pakistan under the guise of development projects in Afghanistan.

The Salma Dam, also known as the Afghan-India Friendship Dam, located in the Herat province of Afghanistan, has come under question. The local Afghan population has expressed serious reservations about the sustainability of this dam, built with the cooperation and assistance of India.

Although India is trying to portray itself as a reliable partner of Kabul, the ground realities show there is no similarity between India and Afghanistan. India’s friendship with Afghanistan is driven solely by its nefarious motives.
